The whole cat, dog, and bird conversations were hilarious and made me laugh more then once! Kyuu-chan accomplished that and alllll the warm fuzzy feelings! He really is too cute!! I found this especially true after reading this second volume because I've tried picking it up before now and didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did now because I wanted something light-hearted. Now with that ramble aside, I forgot how much I love these characters once I started reading! While I could see this series being bingeable, but I think it's best to space out the volumes and read them every once in a while. I say "loosely" because this series continues to be a slice-of-life where it captures these two living together and there "random moments" of their everyday life with a few pages being a continuation of the previous "chapter." A great example of this is when we meet the little ghost, who has to be the cutest little ghost ever! SO adorable! Granted after the first few pages, I DID do a quick skim of volume one to make sure I wasn't forgetting too much and would say volume two is a loose continuing of the previous volume. ![]() While I didn't reread volume one before this volume, I think you can read it as a standalone and still appreciate the story. ![]() ![]() You will find tried-and-true favorites like Banana Bread Cockaigne, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Southern Corn Bread-all retested and faithfully improved-as well as new favorites like Chana Masala, Beef Rendang, Megan’s Seeded Olive Oil Granola, and Smoked Pork Shoulder. ![]() Their strategy for revising this edition was the same one Irma and Marion employed: Vet, research, and improve Joy’s coverage of legacy recipes while introducing new dishes, modern cooking techniques, and comprehensive information on ingredients now available at farmers’ markets and grocery stores.
